The Direct Pipe that is the subject of the intervention is oriented roughly Northeast-Southwest: in the gas direction it enters the hydrographic left of the watercourse called “Fiume Trigno,” in the municipality of Trivento, to exit on the hydrographic right at the location “Piana dell’Ischia.”

The track is characterized by:

• first straight section, L=60.85m, i=-9.40%
• second curved connector section, L= 228.12 m, Rv=2400m
• third straight section, L= 287.88 m, horizontal
• fourth section curved connector, L= 204.43 m, Rv=2400m
• fifth straight section, L= 42.49 m, i=+8.69%

Intervention characteristics.

• Given the length of drilling and the maximum thrust expected, it was decided to install two serially coupled thrusters, one in the thrust shaft, the second on a surface structure
• Given the characteristics of the soil and the presence of water table at an elevation higher than the bottom of the excavation, a special support structure was planned for the shaft to be built for the entire excavation by means of a bulkhead made of interpenetrating piles. These piles are contrasted at the head by a reinforced concrete crowning beam, and in the center of the well, a metal contrast strut with HEB300 section was placed in the transverse direction to the borehole.
• the launching ramp was made by means of embankments of varying heights, placed at a distance of about 15m from each other, on which the rollers were installed.
