In fact, hydromill trench cutters, breaks down the soil through rotating cutter heads, mix it with bentonite slurries and, by means centrifugal pumps, convey the same into a separation plant where solids are separated from fluids. Once separated, the bentonite slurry is reintroduced in the excavation, giving continuity to the excavation process.
The considerable weight of the trench cutter, from 30 to 50 tons, and its remarkable dimensions, more than 15 metres of length, together with a control system that allows to modify in real time the cutter position, allow the execution of panels with minor verticality errors, also at great depths. This equipment is therefore employed in all those works where accuracy plays an essential role for a successful outcome.
