The construction company “Impresa F.lli Costantini e Ing. Petrucco” was founded in Cividale by Alvise Petrucco and the brothers Giovanni and Cesare Costantini.
A century of success
Cividale, 1920. It was there that engineer Alvise Petrucco wrote the first chapter of I.CO.P. and where a long history of people, vehicles, machines, ideas and innovations began.
I.CO.P. isn’t just the story of the Petrucco family, that has been running the company for four generations. It’s also the result of the people that contributed to the Company’s history with their actions, decisions and collaborations, turning I.CO.P. into a bigger extended family. The company has been preserving and cherishing the memory of each of them for over 100 years.
A book for our 100th anniversary
To celebrate the centenary of I.CO.P. we have published a book about the story of the company. The volume, enriched with photographic memories and with the most complete archive of the company’s works, was presented during the event organized at I.CO.P.’s headquarters. It contains an important collection of documents, stories, and events regarding I.CO.P.’s first 100 years of activity.

Industrialisation of the company
Engineers Paolo Petrucco and Pierino Burba decided it was necessary to abandon the traditional construction system. With the new concrete production facility, the bridge over the Tagliamento river was constructed in Ronchis di Latisana.

Special underground foundation works
The company began the construction of large diameter bored piles, for the construction of the bridges over the Piave river, in Belluno.
1965
“Icop di Petrucco Ing. Paolo”
Engineer Paolo Petrucco founds the individual concern “Icop di Petrucco Ing. Paolo”, located in Longarone. In 1986 the company was transformed into “I.CO.P. S.p.A.”.

Great meetings
The meeting with professor Macchi began a new chapter for the company, which performed works designed by the professor himself. One of them was the bridge over the Meduna river, in Cimpello (Pordenone). This bridge has a continuous deck in prestressed reinforced concrete and was the first in Italy of that size.

Third generation
The third generation entered the company: engineer Vittorio Petrucco. Four years later, in 1988, his brother, engineer Piero Petrucco also joined. Now they are, respectively, President and Vice-president of the company.

Microtunnelling
I.CO.P. introduced microtunneling technology to Italy and since then the company has kept on developing new patented systems for the construction of road and railway underpasses.
2005
South Sudan
First experience in South Sudan: I.CO.P. designed and built a bridge over the Payee river. This was the beginning of a long story of commitment in this country: meeting the people from the area triggered the idea of creating a vocational primary school for locals.

2009
I.CO.P. in Germany
I.CO.P. constructed its first microtunnel in Germany. This first international contract in the Oil & Gas sector lead I.CO.P. to perform a double crossing of the Reno river with the microtunneling technique, to connect two Shell refineries in Wesseling, Cologne. This construction site was a turning point for the company abroad.

I.CO.P. in Denmark
Work started on the Cityringen Metro Project. The new underground ring has a total length of 17,4 km and connects all central areas of Copenhagen. The new underground will transport 130 million passengers every year, with 24/24h coverage and a waiting time of 100 seconds between one train and the next one.

I.CO.P. in France
The company became an Eiffage partner for the execution of some lots of the Grand Paris Express. The Grand Paris project is the most important infrastructure investment in the world and one of the most ambitious projects linked to urban transformation.

I.CO.P. in Malaysia
Langat Sewerage project: I.CO.P. constructed part of the sewage system for the Centralized Sewer Collection System in Sungai Langat, Kajang.

PLT
Start of the works for the Logistic Platform in Trieste (PLT), the biggest work ever carried out by I.CO.P. The company worked on the design, construction, maintenance and management of the Logistic Platform located between the Timber Terminal and the former Italsider plant.

The company decides to adopt the benefit corporations standards, changing its corporate name in “I.CO.P. S.p.A. Società Benefit”.
